In 2003 United States Navy veteran John Peasley returned to his childhood vacation area, Williams, Arizona. There, he purchased his first business White Horse Trading Post and Cruisers Route 66 Café cruisers66.com.
Then, in 2007, Peasley decided to start brewing up his own liquid gold and founded the Grand Canyon Brewing Company. His goal was to create a brand that paid homage to the breathtaking landscape and the adventurous lifestyle of living in Williams, Arizona. With one of the few natural wonders of the world located right in his backyard, the Grand Canyon, he set his sights on capturing its majestic beauty through the Grand Canyon Brewing Company.
After a decade of growth and expansion into the Phoenix and Tucson markets of Arizona, Peasley decided to expand his production. In 2017, the brewery was relocated just one mile down the road to a 5 acre compound with a 40 barrel brewhouse, new canning line and centrifuge. The expansion allowed the brand to increase quality control, grow and meet their mounting demand.
In Williams, the smell of bubbling yeast and fresh hops fill the air as the brewing team works to create their award-winning beers. Brew tanks and stainless-steel fermenters fill the production room next to a cozy taproom with local beer, roaring fireplace, rustic décor and full-service kitchen.
Shortly after relocating in 2017, the Grand Canyon Brewing Company team began to expand into spirits by adding a distillery. There they focused on grain to glass scratch made spirits and whiskeys made using native Arizona ingredients.
In 2019, Grand Canyon Brewing Company expanded again with a second location in Flagstaff, Arizona. This location features a 5 barrel brewhouse, allowing the brewers to re-discover their creative side and make small batch brews again. The Flagstaff brewpub features a game and recreation area, full bar, scratch kitchen, and taproom exclusive beers.
Today, the brand is called Grand Canyon Brewing + Distillery as production of beer and spirits continues to increase with the addition of ready to drink cocktails.
We opened the doors of our third location In March 2022, transforming the original Page firehouse to brewhouse! The space that once housed the old fire station and most recently served as a maintenance garage for city vehicles, is just under 10,000 sq. ft. on .86-acre of land. Located near Horseshoe Bend, the brewery will houses a 15-barrel Bohemian Monobloc brewing system, the same system from the original Grand Canyon Brewing & Distillery location in Williams.
Grand Canyon expanded to its fourth location in March of 2023
to Kingman Arizona. This location circles us back to our roots
on Route 66, into a beautiful multi level building built on the side of the, still intact, historic Kingman Club bar. This location features a 7 barrel JV Northwest brewhouse and serves as the hub of our small batch program!
Stay tuned for more as the adventure continues...
